Founded in 1946, the Art Gallery has a permanent exhibition of both old and contemporary paintings and sculptures made exclusively by B&H artists. It is situated in the 1912-edifice built as a commercial building for the purposes of wealthy Sarajevan merchants, Jesua and Mojca Salom. Since it first opened in 1959, the collection has significantly grown from 2200 to over 6000 works of art. In addition to an incredible collection of art, there is a document centre and a specialized library. The gallery particularly focuses on the most influential artists of the 20th century in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
